7th Arrest in Brooklyn Street Party Stabbing

"A 16-year-old boy was arrested yesterday for wielding the knife used when he and six others ambushed, beat and repeatedly stabbed two men for moving a wooden barrier at a street party in Brooklyn, police said."

This whole story is pretty nuts.

"'I could do whatever I want; it's my birthday party,' Kelly quoted suspect Ani Zyka, 18, of 20th Avenue in Brooklyn, as saying about blocking the street."

I'll cry if I want to, cry if I want to, cry if I want to...

Murray Hill driver arrested after hitting woman

"A 33-year-old dump truck driver was arrested last Thursday after he hit an 81-year-old at the cross section of Parsons Blvd. and 35th Street at about 3:48 p.m., cops said.

"The driver, Jesus Amaya of 80-15 41st Ave., was charged with driving with a suspended license, police said."

The victim was heard screaming, "Jesus!!!!" Ok. Totally kidding here.

Anthrax scare at news outlets

"Two envelopes full of white powder mailed from Pakistan, including one to a Long Island television news station, renewed anthrax fears yesterday, though initial tests were negative."

There was a letter that read: "Death to Yankees."

Must've been a Mets fan. Har har.

OT (Again) The Morning News - My Kind of Town

"A city with more than two-dozen neighborhoods and nearly every one of the world’s ethnic groups can be a bit difficult to navigate. Correspondent Rosecrans Baldwin picks a single direction – north – and walks the entire length of Manhattan."

This is very, very similar to an idea I have planned for Spring. Stay tuned.

Two Mothers Attack Adult Sons

"Two moms attacked their adult sons, one fatally, when family arguments got way out of hand, police said."

I always like it (read: hate it) when papers lump unrelated stories of violence together. I mean, sure, these stories are similar in the sense that a mother lashed out at their child... but they're really different stories and probably deserve their own pieces in the paper.

Four Hurt In Bronx Shooting

"Four people were wounded after two men started shooting into a group hanging out in the Bronx Sunday night."

I think I know the problem here...

"Police said that just after 11 p.m. Sunday, two men opened fire on a group standing on the corner of East Gunhill Road and Tenbroeck Avenue in the Baychester section of the Bronx."

Might as well call it North Knife Lane.

Window Washer Falls To Death

"A workman washing windows at a midtown Manhattan apartment building fell 14 stories to his death Monday, police said."

Man Killed By Cop Car

"A 76-year-old Brooklyn man died yesterday of a heart attack hours after he was struck on a sidewalk by a police car involved in an accident while responding to a radio call, police and the victim's son said."

It seems like these things happen in spurts. This is the second in about a week that I have read about.

Carjacked tot is found

"A 2-year-old boy abducted by a car thief in Queens was found safe on Long Island early today — ending a massive Amber Alert hunt and a wrenching 10-hour ordeal for his mother."

This was actually the first time I noticed the Amber Alert going into action in New York State. I was watching some terrible movie on channel 11 and I saw the crawl at the bottom of the screen about this. I guess it worked.
