"Dozens of electrified manhole and service-box covers that could zap you to death have been discovered throughout the city, Con Ed revealed yesterday."
In case you didn't get that the first time, they can "zap you to death." It must be fun working for the New York Post.

'Taliban' taunt in sex attacks
"Accused East Side sex attacker Kevin White threatened to 'go Taliban' on a male victim and allegedly violated him with a pair of scissors, court records revealed yesterday."
Go Taliban? What exactly does that mean and what's the appropriate response? Interesting to note: "Taliban" is not in MS Outlook's spellcheck dictionary.

Powdery Envelopes Prompt Postal Scares
"Three envelopes containing white powder that turned out to be harmless were discovered yesterday at three U.S. Postal facilities in New York -- one in Brooklyn and two in Manhattan -- authorities said."
So this happens from time to time. Can someone tell me who's mailing powder?
"Chemical tests conducted by the New York Police Department and the Department of Environmental Protection determined that the powder found in Brooklyn was coffee creamer, the Morgan center's was Sheetrock dust and the Farley building's appeared to be a 'simple household product,' said Tom Boyle, a postal inspector."
Ok, so now we know what it is, but we don't know how it got in there. When was the last time you mailed something and accidentally got coffee creamer in there? Dumb.

F.Y.I.: When MetroCard Fails
"Q: Occasionally my unlimited MetroCard will fail, and there is inevitably a long line for the attendant - or no attendant at all. Am I breaking any laws if I save everyone's time and hop over the barriers?"
"A: Don't do it. In the eyes of the law, it's still fare-beating. As Paul Fleuranges, a spokesman for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, says: 'A police officer who sees you go through doesn't care that you have a monthly card. He's going to give you a ticket.'"
Ok, I'll remember, thanks.

Arrest Warrant Issued For 50 Cent
"Police issued an arrest warrant for multi-platinum rapper Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, after he allegedly threatened gun play at a video shoot yesterday (January 31)."
Woops. Read the story. It's not clear if he even had a gun.

Suspect Arrested in East Side Sex Assaults
"Police announced the arrest on Sunday of a man believed to have sexually assaulted a woman and a man on separate days this week in their Manhattan apartment buildings."
Well that's good news. I guess it's rare for someone to attack members of both sexes.
